Do you believe in love at first sight?  Even if you do not, your perfect Buyer might!  Make it easy for Buyers to love your home before they get to the front door.  Here are five ways to improve your home’s curb appeal.

1. Update your front door with a coat of paint.

This is a simple, inexpensive way to add a little pizazz to your entryway.  Did you know that paint looks less intense outside?  This means that you can choose from a richer palette that might be too much for an interior space.  Indulge your wild side and feel free to pick a bold colour that compliments the exterior of your home.

2. Install exterior lighting at ground level.

There are many budget friendly options for ground level exterior lighting.  Use solar powered lights to highlight the walkway and up-light trees and gardens.  This creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere for buyers who come to visit in the evening.

3. Maintain your lawn and garden.

The last thing you want is for Buyers to pull up to your house and see weeds or a bedraggled garden.  Keep your lawn trimmed and watered.  Make sure that weeds are controlled.  Adding hardy, colourful perennials will provide maximum impact with minimal work.

4. Update the exterior hardware.

New house numbers, ornamental door knockers, porch lights, and door handles can help to update your home’s exterior.  All this takes is a quick trip to the hardware store and a few minutes to remove your old fixtures then install the updated hardware.  Love what you already have?  Give hardware and lights a quick polish to make them look new again.

5. Pressure wash the walkways, driveway, and porch.

Cleanliness is always appealing to Buyers!  A quick pressure wash of your driveway, walkway, and porch will remove dust and debris that has collected over time.

These five simple, inexpensive ideas can all be done in a weekend and will help to improve the exterior appeal of your home.  Tell me on Twitter which one is on your to-do list!
