Historically, Black Friday has marked the beginning of the holiday shopping season in the United States.  It coincides with American Thanksgiving and is notorious for door crasher deals and incredible bargains.  Over the last few years, Black Friday has gained popularity amoung Canadian retailers and shoppers.  We do not see the steep discounts that our southern neighbours do, but there are still some incredible deals to be found.  If you have been saving up for a major purchase for your home, you might find a great bargain on Black Friday!  I have done all the leg work for you and found out which Black Friday deals are the best for your wallet and your house.

Appliances

Not everyone wants to see an appliance under their Christmas tree but retailers still want to move these items off the floor during the holiday rush.  If you have been thinking about investing in new appliances for any room in your home, be sure to check out your local flyers for Black Friday specials.  You may see small household appliances, like vacuums or microwaves, for sale alongside larger ticket items such as refrigerators, dishwashers, or washing machines.

Furniture

Retailers know that November and December are expensive months for most Canadians.  Many of us are not even considering updating our furniture at this time of year.  That is exactly why you can expect to see furniture on sale beginning on Black Friday.  This just might be the perfect time to get a new sofa or bedroom set.

Electronics

Do not expect to see bargain-basement prices on electronics this week but do expect to score a few good deals!  Televisions, home theatre sets, gaming consoles, and accessories will be on sale across the city beginning on Black Friday.

The trick to scoring some great deals during your Black Friday shopping is to do your homework in advance.  Research the items you hope to purchase and make sure you know how much they typically cost.  You can compare the regular cost to the sale price to make sure you are getting a good deal.  Just because something is marked as a Black Friday sale, it does not mean it is the best deal.

If you do not want to brave crowds of Black Friday shoppers, rest easy over the weekend and wait for Cyber Monday!  Cyber Monday is the online equivalent of Black Friday.  Online retailers, even those with a brick and mortar store, offer steep discounts to increase their sales volumes.  You can find all the same stuff online including appliances, furniture, and electronics without leaving the comfort of your home.  Just be sure to check out shipping fees and exchange rates to make sure that you are getting the best bargain possible.

Good luck with your bargain hunting!  Come and tell me on Twitter what you bought for your home and how much you saved.
